MUS 373 History of Western Music 1900 to the Present


Continuation of MUS 372  Study of European and American art music of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries in historical context. Examines various modern and postmodern movements, experimental music and new technologies, the growth of popular music, and the impact of world music on the Western classical tradition. Requires readings, listening and score study. Prerequisite(s): MUS 162  and MUS 172  or permission of instructor. 3 hour(s). W.
