BIB 220 Psalms


A study of selected psalms as religious poetry. The course focuses on how to read a biblical psalm in light of its formal structures, conceptual metaphors, social setting, and ancient Near Eastern context, with the goal of applying the Psalms to contemporary spiritual theology. Some attention will also be given to the theology of the Psalter and its history of exegesis, especially the use of the Psalms in the New Testament. Formerly BIB 327. Prerequisite(s): BIB 101  or BIB 198 ;  BIB 102  or BIB 199 ; concurrently with BIB 201 BIB 202 BIB 298  or BIB 299 . 3 hour(s).
