EDU 380 Special Education Law, Policy, and Practice


This course investigates the overarching ethics and policies that guide special education professionals. Research and discussion will be on applicable federal and state laws, as well as the impact of case law on policy and practice when working with students with disabilities. Instruction in the practical application of the law will include planning and writing standards-based Individual Education Plans and understanding the implementation of collaborative classrooms where the Least Restrictive Environment is provided for all students.  Prerequisite(s): EDU 121  and Declaration of Intent form to pursue Elementary Education or Master of Arts in Teaching Program. May be taken after or during the same semester as EDU 361 Education of Exceptional Children
