Requirements for Major
The core and distribution requirements for a major in interdisciplinary studies are those listed for baccalaureate degrees . A course fulfilling an IDS major requirement may not fulfill a core distribution requirement. Please contact the IDS program coordinator, Dr. Jay Green, for the current program requirements. Major and Supporting Course Requirements

Minimum total IDS major hours required: 48
A minimum of 36 non-core hours must be earned in three disciplines. This includes a minimum of 12 non-core hours in each chosen discipline. At least 15 of the 48 hours must be 300 level or higher. Each discipline has its own requirements. If two concentrations share a course requirement, consult your advisor to select a substitute elective for one of the concentrations. Three disciplines are chosen from the following: Accounting * Art Biblical and Theological Studies Biblical Languages Biology Business * Chemistry Coaching ** Community Development Economics Education English French German History | Linguistics Marketing * Mathematics Missions Music Philosophy Physics Political Science Psychology Sociology Spanish Sport Management ** Theatre Youth Ministry | | * Of the three business department concentrations (Accounting, Business and Marketing), only one of the three may be included as an IDS concentration. ** Only ONE of these two concentrations - Coaching and Sport Management - may be included as an IDS concentration. Students should consult the respective departments early in their sophomore year to determine the frequency that required courses are offered. Then, begin organizing a draft of future fall and spring semester schedules to insure prerequisites are completed before core and concentration requirements need to be scheduled. |
